ICC releases latest T20 batsman rankings, Virat suffers major setback

New Delhi: ICC announced the latest T20 batsman rankings on Wednesday and India was delighted, and there was a big shock. India batsman KL Rahul has benefited from the rankings, but skipper Virat Kohli has suffered disappointment. South Africa has benefited the most. Both South Africa and India could not advance to the T20 World Cup semi-finals.

Opening batsman KL Rahul, who scored the highest 194 runs in the ICC T20 World Cup for India, has gained three places in the rankings. He has moved up from eighth to fifth. They have 727 points. Virat Kohli, who has given up captaining Team India in T20s, has suffered the most among the top-10 players. He has moved four places down to number eight. He has 698 runs. Kohli batted in three matches in the World Cup and scored a total of 68 runs. South Africa's Rasi van der Durse has benefited the most. The batsman, who played a brilliant 94-run innings against England in the Super-12 match, has jumped six places to enter the top-10. He is ranked 10th with 669 points.

Another South African batsman Aiden Macron has also benefited in the rankings. He has moved up three places to third. He has 796 points. The batsman also scored an unbeaten 52 against England. Pakistan captain Babar Azam, however, is at the top. England's David Malan has also secured his second number. Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan, however, has suffered a loss of one place. He has moved up from fifth to sixth. Australia captain Aaron Finch has also suffered a no. He has come from third to fourth. New Zealand's Dave Conve occupies seventh, England's Jos Buttler ninth.
