New Delhi: Delhi Police's vigilance has foiled a major blast plot in the national capital today. According to information received, an IED has been recovered in the capital. It has been defused by the bomb squad team. Thus, a major incident has been averted, but the police are constantly investigating it.

There has been panic among the people in the vicinity since the news came to light. In fact, such an IED is pointing to a major threat amid preparations for the ongoing Republic Day in Delhi. Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana said an IED has been recovered. The Delhi Police had sent a bomb disposal squad to Ghazipur Phool Mandi in east Delhi today after receiving information about the appearance of an unclaimed bag. After conducting an investigation there, the bomb squad had informed that there was an IED in the bag.

A fire department official informed the media that a call was received about a suspicious bag at Ghazipur Phool Bazar around 10.20 am after which a fire tender was rushed to the spot. Sources said a team of Delhi Disaster Management Authority and bomb disposal squad were also sent to the spot. After which the bomb was diffused.
