Delhi Police’s Special Cell has arrested a man who is identified as a terrorist associated with the terrorist organisation Indian Mujahideen. The man, Ariz Khan was a wanted terrorist and is also known by the name Junaid. He had escaped from Batala House encounter.

DCP (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwaha confirmed his arrest from the Indo-Nepal border.

Hailing from Azamgarh, a town in Uttar Pradesh, Ariz Khan was involved in five bomb blasts cases including 2007 UP blasts, 2008 Jaipur serial blasts, 2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts and 2008 Delhi serial blasts. The blasts collectively claimed lives of 165 people.

Ariz Khan was an engineer before he turned to terrorism. “He is an expert bomb maker, conspirator and executioner,” said DCP (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwaha to the press.

DCP (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwaha shared that he was present during the Batala House encounter which happened on September 19, 2008. Ariz was on run since then. Two of his associates, Atif Amin and Mohammad Sajid were shot dead in the Batala House encounter and other two, Mohammad Saif and Zeeshan were arrested. A Delhi Police inspector, Mohan Chand Sharma was also killed in the unfortunate event.
