Bangalore: Rain continues to lash many parts of Karnataka. The flood-like situation has arisen in many districts of the state. Meanwhile, the MET department has issued an alert for heavy rains. According to the IMD, most parts of Karnataka are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall from July 29 to August 2. According to the report, the rivers in the region are in spate due to incessant rains in Karnataka for the past several days. Many dams have been flooded with rainwater and the fields have been flooded. This has caused extensive damage to crops and properties. At the same time, the waterlogging in the low-lying areas is so much that the vehicles are seen submerged in water.

Rain has triggered flood-like situations in many parts of coastal Karnataka and Malnad. Apart from this, there have also been several incidents of landslides and land erosion. In Karnataka, normal life has been affected due to heavy rains in coastal areas and Malnad. There has been a lot of loss of life and property in the rain and floods. In such a situation, the rain alert issued by the Meteorological Department is going to increase the concern. In Karnataka, rivers are in spate due to incessant rains. Following the forecast of torrential rains issued by the IMD, the district administration has declared a holiday in schools in Mangaluru. Schools have been declared closed for the safety of children.

According to the MET department, thunderstorm squall is expected to occur in all districts of coastal Karnataka. In addition, heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at isolated places in Chikkamangaluru, Kodagu and Shivamogga districts of south interior Karnataka.
