Mumbai: Atleast 16- visarjan-related deaths came in front in the last 24 hours, during the immersion of idols of Lord Ganesha in most parts of Maharashtra.

Two people are still missing as well as at least seven people died in Nashik during immersion ceremonies in the district.

The deceased identified as an army soldier, Sandeep Shirsat, and another local, S. Rameshwar, drowned in a pond in Musalgaon, while Nilesh Patil, Bhushan Kasbe, Sumit Pawar, Amol Patil and Roshan Salve died in different villages in the district.

In Wardha district, while clicking selfies with idols of Lord Ganesha, three students drowned in a river and local rescued th one of their friends from the swirling waters.

Finally, the immersion ceremonies of thousands of idols of Lord Ganesha drew to an end on Friday morning across the state, after more than 24 hours with marking the end of the 11-day Ganeshotsav.
