Lucknow: Imrana, identified as "Imrana Baba," was apprehended from her residence in Prempuri on the 17th of February by a combined team of the Special Task Force (STF) and local police. The arrest was made following her alleged involvement in ordering Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) worth Rs 50,000 from Javed Shaikh, who was previously detained by the STF Meerut on the 16th of February.

Imrana, aged 45 and residing in the village of Bantikhera, Shamli district, is recognized for her occult practices. She is the wife of a man named Azad and has long-standing ties within her community. Imrana's activities came under scrutiny after Javed Shaikh, during interrogation, disclosed her involvement in commissioning explosive devices for a sum of Rs 50,000, with an initial payment of Rs 10,000. These explosives were purportedly intended for causing unrest, particularly protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

It is alleged that Imrana has a history of involvement in such activities, having ordered over 200 explosives back in 2013 during the Muzaffarnagar riots. These were purportedly distributed during the unrest. The recent order placed by Imrana was reportedly aimed at utilizing the explosives post the implementation of the CAA, possibly before the Lok Sabha elections, to incite fear and turmoil.

Upon her arrest, Imrana was taken to the Kotwali police station for questioning by the STF team. Subsequently, the Delhi Intelligence Bureau (IB) team also joined the interrogation. However, Imrana's daughter Rukhsar alleged that her mother was handed over to the police by them. The investigation into Imrana's activities suggests a possible terrorist conspiracy, prompting further scrutiny into her connections and motives.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Brijesh Singh of the STF emphasized Imrana's long-standing association with Zarif Ahmed, the father of Javed Shaikh, dating back to 2009. Ahmed, a Hakim by profession, had reportedly provided Imrana with traditional remedies for her ailments, thus establishing a connection between them. Imrana's history of ordering explosives from Javed Shaikh, some of which were allegedly used in past riots, underscores the gravity of her involvement in such activities.

Imrana's interrogation is expected to shed light on the individuals and organizations backing her, as well as their sinister agendas, as mentioned by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abhishek Singh. The authorities are determined to unravel the full extent of Imrana's network and thwart any potential threats posed by her associates.
