The Income Tax Department has issued a notice to the Congress seeking clarification on allegedly taking funds of Rs 170 crore from a company. The department has sent this notice in connection with the investigation of tax evasion in the Rs 3,300 crore hawala racket case.
On Tuesday, officials said that a notice has been sent for further investigation in this matter. The party has not been able to present the documents related to the money whose flow is mentioned in the company's claims. Earlier, notice was also given in the same case on November 4.
No one from the Congress had appeared before the Income Tax Department. At present, no statement has come from the party in this matter. Let me tell you that the Income Tax Department had raided a Hyderabad-based infrastructure company recently. In which it was revealed that the company had sent 170 crore rupees through hawala to the party. After the release, the department had stepped up the investigation. This fund was set aside according to the government project. The investigation has revealed that fake bills were prepared for this. He was associated with all those projects which had a direct relationship with the economically weaker section. Apart from Congress, the company gave political donations to other political parties.
