Ind vs Aus 3rd Test: Virat Kohli srprasses Sourav Ganguly's record with most overseas win by an Indian skipper

Team India’s massive win of 137 runs in Melbourne helped Virat Kohli equal Sourav Ganguly's record of 11 Test victories in overseas. India clinched the Boxing Day Test match to take a 2-1 lead in the Test match series to be played in Sydney. Under the leadership of Kohli, India have won Tests in Sri Lanka, England, South Africa, West Indies and now Australia.  This Test win was too special because India came back to series with win this Test match after losing the Perth Test.

Under the leadership Ganguly team India from 2000-2005 registered Test wins one each in Australia, England, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh while two in Pakistan and West Indies, and three in Zimbabwe. On the other hand Kohli has taken fewer Tests to get to 11 wins but Ganguly took 28 Tests to get to this landmark, Kohli did the same in 24 Tests.

MS Dhoni, with six Test victory in overseas, is third on the list of Indian Test captains with most Test wins. Run machine Virat Kohli's  win at the Melbourne Test on the very day when MS Dhoni announced his retirement from Test cricket.

Post the Test win, Kohli hailed his team and spoke about different aspects of the win as well. He spoke about the Jasprit Bumrah's maturity as a Test bowler who took 9 wickets in two innings.
