Geneva: At a meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on The Middle East, Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs Vikas Swarup has appealed to Israel and Palestine to stop the war by respecting the ceasefire. He said the developments in Palestine in recent times are alarming. They can resume violence, which can kill a lot of people and increase violent incidents.

He further said that India is committed to establishing Palestine as an independent, democratic state. There is no alternative to a two-state solution to ensure meaningful and lasting peace. He said that immediately humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people should be delivered to Gaza, especially through legitimate means. We call for strong cooperation between Israeli and Palestinian authorities in the field of humanitarian help, he added.

The dispute between Israel and Palestine has escalated back. Palestine recently canceled an agreement to get the corona vaccine from Israel after the dispute escalated. There was a deal for 1.4 million doses of Pfizer in Israel and Palestine. But the Palestine Authority canceled the contract, saying the Corona vaccine from Israel was about to expire immediately. Israel sent nearly 90,000 doses to Palestine in the first consignment, which has been returned.
