Shanghai: When India's men's recurve team was defeated by Korea in the World Cup Stage 1 quarterfinal on May 18, it was a familiar story for the Indian archers.

Dhiraj Bommadevara, Atanu Das, and Neeraj Chauhan of India lost to the top-seeded Korean team of Lee Woo Seok, Kim Je Deok, and Kim Woojin by a lopsided score of 0-6 (54-55, 56-57, 54-59).

Indian men's recurve team, the eighth-seeded squad, defeated Chinese Taipei 5-3 (57-57, 56-58, 57-56, 58-51) to start their campaign.

Simranjeet Kaur, Avneet Kaur, and Ankita Bhakat, the women's trio that received the fourth seed in team qualification, put on a sloppy performance and were eliminated in the first round.

They suffered a lopsided defeat against lower-ranked Indonesia 1-5 (54-57, 57-57, 50-52).

Indian hopes will now centre on the mixed pair combination of Dhiraj Bommadevara and Simranjeet Kaur in the recurve team competitions.

They received a bye into the second round (pre-quarterfinals) of the recurve mixed team draw of 32 since they placed fifth in the qualifying.
