India having Fastest 5G Rollouts in the World: Ericsson Chief

NEW DELHI: India is now deploying 5G at one of the quickest rates in the world and will surpass most other nations by the end of 2023, said Ericsson global chief Borje Ekholm. India has one of the fastest rollouts universally of 5G and by 2023-end India he said. 

"I would believe that by the end of 2023, it would be clearly ahead of most other countries in the globe," Ekholm said in press briefing.  India has a large pool of skilled software developers, Ekholm said while speaking about India as a commercial destination.

"It would propel India's growth to the next level, making it a crucial market for us. Around 25,000 people work for us in this nation already. Our position in R&D, software development, service provision, automation, and all of those sectors is growing and getting stronger. We offer the essential hardware, software, and infrastructure needed to develop the 5G network. We're therefore quite delighted to be in India."

Notably, Indian telecom service providers began offering fast 5G services in the nation starting in October 2022.
In August 2022, the government sent letters to telecom service providers requesting them to get ready for the launch of 5G services in the nation.

From the 5G spectrum auction, the Department of Telecom has received total bids of Rs. 1.50 lakh crore. The fifth-generation (5G) mobile network is able to send massive amounts of data at extremely fast rates. 5G has an extremely low latency compared to 3G and 4G, which will improve user experiences across a variety of industries. Low latency is a term used to indicate how quickly a large amount of data packets may be processed.
