NEW DELHI: India reported 163 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, Union Health Ministry said on Thursday.
In the corresponding period, the country recorded nine Covid-related deaths, taking the national toll to 5,30,690 the report further said..
Meantime, the active caseload has reduced to 3,380 cases, accounting for 0.01 percent of the country's total positive cases.
The recovery of 176 patients in the last 24 hours took the total tally to 4,41,42,608. India's recovery rate, consequently, stands at 98.80 percent.
Also in the same period, a total of 1,25,361 tests has been conducted across the country, increasing the overall tally to over 90.96 crore.
Vaccination: With 87,723 vaccines administered in the last 24 hours, India's Covid vaccination coverage surpassed 220.02 crore as of Friday morning.
The Indian government has started random testing of visitors from abroad -- 2 per cent of all landings. Flight to and from China are already banned.
