Srinagar: Two militants were gunned down in an encounter by security forces in the Okay area of Kulgam district of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. Both the local terrorists are said to be members of Lashkar-e-Taiba. Their names have not been revealed at the moment. Earlier, three terrorists, including a Pakistani Jaish commander, were killed in Mirhama in Kulgam on Wednesday.
According to the police, security forces had received information about the militants hiding in the area on Tuesday. After this, the security forces cordoned off the Okay area in the morning and launched a search operation. During this time, the terrorists hiding in a house opened fire on the security forces. Two terrorists were killed in retaliation by the security forces. An AK-47 and a pistol were found near the bodies. According to IG Kashmir Vijay Kumar, the two slain terrorists were involved in several criminal incidents. Police are tracing their detailed criminal history.
Since December, 29 terrorists, including seven Pakistanis, have been killed in encounters at the hands of security forces. In the last five days, 14 terrorists have been killed in the Valley. There are four Pakistanis.
