China should abide by border agreements: India told categorically to the dragon

New Delhi: A key meeting was held on Thursday between Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi over the ongoing border standoff in Ladakh. The foreign ministers met separately from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting in Russia. During the meeting, India raised the issue of the growing number of troops at LAC. Later, the two nation on 5 formulas to reduce tension between two. The two countries will continue to abide by the existing agreements. India said it is expected that China will respect agreements that relate to border management.

According to sources, the Indian side in the meeting categorically stated that it is likely to fully adhere to all agreements on the management of border areas and will not accept any attempt to change the status quo. In a separate meeting with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the Russian capital Moscow, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar discussed the border situation with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and said China should reduce the number of its growing troops from the border.

The meeting between the two countries discussed the five-point formula. Under this formula, a decision was taken by both countries to reduce tensions. The two countries were told that the foreign ministers openly spoke on the border dispute and discussed bilateral ties. According to sources, India raised the issue of Chinese troops gathering on the border before China. It also said that this is a violation of any agreements that were signed in 1993-1996.
