New Delhi: The Indian government is going to issue an e-Passport from next year, which will have an electronic microprocessor. According to a report, the government has also completed its trial. The government has completed the trial of issuing 20,000 e-passports within an hour.

The government will take help of the agency for issuing e-passport, which will develop IT infrastructure for this. Dedicate units will be set up in Delhi and Chennai for e-passports, from where 10,000 to 20,000 e-passports will be issued per hour. For this project, the National Information Center (NIT) has sent a Proposal Request (RFP) to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), asking to select an agency to build IT infrastructure.

According to the report, 'an entirely different setup will be required for the e-passport project. Since e-passport will be equipped with international level security, which can be tracked whenever needed. Its security system will be very high level. At present, the Indian government issues passports in the form of booklets, which contain details of the journey. All the security arrangements are made in these passports as well, even after that the news of fake passports keeps coming up.
