In fact, if your train is running late than its time, then in such a situation, food and a cold drink are offered to the passengers by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). Yes and this food is given to you free by IRCTC. According to Indian railway rules, passengers are given breakfast and light food under IRCTC's catering policy when the train is late.

According to IRCTC rules, a free meal facility is provided only if the train is delayed by two hours or more. With this, let us tell you that IRCTC gives rice, dal, pickle packets to passengers in lunch or dinner. If it is not available, then 7 puris, mix ways-potato bhaji, pickle packet, salt and black pepper packet each are available. At the same time, passengers are given tea or coffee and two biscuits for breakfast, while tea or coffee and four bread slices (brown-white) are given with a butter chiplet in the evening breakfast. This facility is only for passengers on express trains. This means that if you are travelling in express trains like Shatabdi, Rajdhani and Duronto, you can avail this facility.
