The Indian Women's Hockey team, after trailing by one goal, bounced back strongly to beat usa 4-2 in the first match of the two-leg match of the FIH Pro League. Danielle Grega gave the United States the lead by scoring a field goal in 28 minutes but India have taken a 3-1 lead with deep Grace Ekka (31st minute), Navneet Kaur (32nd minute) and Sonika (40th minute) scoring 3 goals within 10 minutes. The US has restricted India's lead to one goal with natalie konrath's goal on a penalty corner in the 45th minute.
Vandana Katariya, however, scored a field goal in the 50th minute of the second half to give India a 4-2 lead which has proved to be a decisive score. The second stage match between the two teams is scheduled to be played on Wednesday i.e. today. Argentina's team has already managed to win the title with 42 points from 16 matches. The Indian team, which is making its debut in the tournament, is in third place with 27 points from 13 matches.
Reports say that the Belgian team, on the other hand, is in the 7th position with 12 points from 8 matches. The Indian team is scheduled to take on Belgium on June 11 and 12 at the Sportsenstrum Willrixe Plain Stadium in Antwerp. Savita said in a release issued by Hockey India, "We are ready to take on Belgium. There are many experienced players in our team who know what needs to be done to win on foreign soil. '
