The Indian National Congress Party is named as the oldest party in Indian politics. It has been more than 135 years since this party was founded. - Congress was established in the year 1885. It is the oldest political party in India.

- The founders of the Indian National Congress include prominent members of the Theosophical Society, Alan Octavian Humay, Dadabhai Naoroji and Dinshaw Covenant.

- Congress was also instrumental in India's independence. It is said that 1.5 crore members of the Congress party and more than 7 crore allies were against the British government.

- Out of all the Lok Sabha elections held between India's independence and 2015, the Indian National Congress Party managed to get a clear majority 6 times. At the same time, this party has also formed government with coalition 4 times.

- India got independence in the year 1947. From 1947 onwards, the Congress party ruled the throne of India for 49 consecutive years.

- The Indian National Congress is the only party to give 7 Prime Ministers to India. The 7 Prime Ministers include the names of the first PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Gulzarilal Nanda, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, PV Mulmi Rao and Manmohan Singh.

- Sarojini Naidu was the first Indian woman president of the Indian National Congress, the oldest political party in India.

- The first session of the Indian National Congress was held in Mumbai then Bombay under the chairmanship of the then Calcutta High Court Barrister Umesh Chandra Banerjee.
