Washington: The name of Pandit Jasraj, who has left a mark on the whole world with his classical singing, will now be illuminated in the universe. The International Astronomical Union (IAU) has named a small planet between Mars and Jupiter after 'Pandit Jasraj'. The Padma Vibhushan singer is the first Indian artist to receive such an honour.

This small planet (Minor Planet) is 2006 VP 32 (number-300128), which was discovered on 11 November 2006. It travels between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. Minor planets are neither planets nor can they be called fully comets. Durga Jasraj, daughter of Pandit Jasraj has given information regarding this honour. He said that "the IAU announced it officially on 23 September with a citation".
