New Delhi: The hearing on the bail plea of P Chidambaram in the money laundering case related to INX Media rigging has been postponed for Wednesday. Actually, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta was busy in the hearing of the Jammu and Kashmir ban case. In the Chidambaram case, they appear before the ED. In the last hearing, the top court issued notice to the ED and asked to reply by 26 November.

Earlier, Chidambaram filed a bail petition in the apex court. Chidambaram's lawyer Kapil Sibal demanded an immediate hearing on the bail plea. Let me tell you that while giving a big blow to P Chidambaram in INX Media case, the Delhi High Court rejected the bail petition in the ED case related to it. Justice Suresh Kath of the High Court had said in his order that if Chidambaram is granted bail at this stage, it will be difficult for the investigating agency to prove the shell company and money trail, including 70 benami bank accounts.

Earlier, the top court had given bail to Chidambaram in the CBI case on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh. During the hearing of the case in the apex court, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing on behalf of the CBI, had said that Chidambaram should not get bail in the case till the trial of the case begins and the statements of important witnesses are not recorded.
