NEW DELHI: Delhi court extended the CBI custody of veteran Congress leader and former finance minister P. Chidambaram's till 2nd September. The CBI had sought an extension of Chidambaram's custody by five days from the Rouse Avenue Court. CBI has told the court that Chidambaram is not cooperating with the interrogation and is changing his statements every time.
The CBI had said in the court that he should be confronted with other accused. Chidambaram's lawyer said he had been asked 400 questions. The court told the CBI that why do you ask for 5 days of custodial every time, why don't you ask for 15 days of arrest. Actually, P. Chidambaram was presented before Special Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar in Rouse Avenue Court on Friday.

Chidambaram was already in CBI custody for 8 days. Chidambaram's anticipatory bail plea was rejected by the Delhi High Court on August 20 after the CBI arrested him on August 21. The court then sent him for questioning in CBI custody till August 26. The detention was later extended by four days to 30th August. He has now been sent to CBI Custody for 2nd September.
