New Delhi: Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has announced to retire from all forms of cricket on Tuesday. The news of Watson's retirement had been going on since yesterday, but this legendary player confirmed these reports today. He confirmed his retirement decision via a tweet. He wrote on t20stars.com with a video titled 'My Retire Announcement' that, 'As soon as an amazing chapter closes, it is followed by another very exciting opening. I will always be grateful to everyone. '
Watson, who made his international debut in 2002, has played 59 Tests, 190 ODIs and 58 T20Is for Australia. During this time he scored more than about 14,000 runs. He also took 291 international wickets. Watson retired from international cricket in 2016 but he was playing league cricket, but now he has given up cricket completely.
In a video, Watson said, 'It all started as a dream. As a child, watching a Test match when I was five years old, I told my mother that I wanted to play cricket for Australia and now I officially declare my retirement from all formats of cricket, I think I had the craziness to fulfil my dream. '
