New Delhi: The dates for next year's Indian Premier League (IPL) have been announced. However, the schedule for this world's largest cricket league has not been fixed. BCCI has informed the key stakeholders internally that April 2 is the likely date when IPL may start. According to reports, 10 teams are scheduled to play in the tournament this time and a total of 74 matches will be played. All the teams will play 14-14 matches, each at their home ground and seven at the opposition's home ground.

It may be recalled that IPL the 2021 title was won by Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by defeating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), while being defending champions, CSK will face five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in the first match.  According to the report, the BCCI has also agreed that the next season of IPL is going to last for more than 60 days. The final match is scheduled to be played in the first week of June, which is expected to be june 4 or 5.

BCCI Secretary Jai Shah had recently confirmed that the IPL 2022 will be held in India. He had said that the induction of two new teams would add to the thrill of IPL. He had informed about this at an event organized by CSK in Chennai. Tell me, for the last two years, IPL is being organized in UAE rather than in India. While the entire tournament was held in uae last year due to corona virus, the second phase of IPL 2021 this year was played in UAE.
