MANAMA: Senior diplomats from Bahrain, Morocco, Egypt, the United States, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have decided to create a framework for regional cooperation.

The Steering Committee of the Negev Forum, a conference attended by the same countries and held in Israel's Negev Desert in March, met for the first time on Monday in Manama, sponsored by Bahrain, reports Xinhua.

According to Israel's Foreign Ministry, the next meeting of this kind is anticipated to happen later this year. According to the Ministry, the officials talked about "means to promote the cooperation in a way that will bring substantial benefits for the region and its people."

It further stated that cooperation in the areas of security, clean energy, and the security of food and water will be investigated. Prior to US Vice President Joe Biden's July trips to Israel and Saudi Arabia, the two men met.
Under US supervision, the UAE, Bahrain, and Morocco have agreed to normalise their relations with Israel in 2020. In 1979, Egypt and Israel agreed to a peace treaty.
