New Delhi: The Supreme Court has dealt a major blow to 4 accused in the 1994 case related to snooping on the Indian Space Research Institute (ISRO). The court has canceled the anticipatory bail of the four accused. It also quashed the Kerala High Court order and sent the matter to the High Court for reconsideration. At the same time, the Supreme Court has also ordered the CBI not to arrest the four accused. The case dates back to 1994 when the Congress government was at the Centre under the leadership of Narasimha Rao and during this time, well-known ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan was implicated in a false case of espionage.

According to the report, now on Friday (December 2), the apex court asked the Kerala High Court to reconsider the anticipatory bail. The court also granted protection from arrest to the accused for five weeks. Former Kerala DGP Siby Mathews, former Gujarat ADGP RB Sreekumar, and 3 others are accused in the case. Mathews was accused of implicating ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan in 1994.

What is the Nambi Narayanan case:-

Narayanan has been a scientist at ISRO. In 1994, he was implicated in an espionage case. He was accused of sending confidential documents related to the Indian space program to other countries. Apart from Narayanan, five others were charged with espionage and delivering rocket technology to other countries. Narayanan, a scientist, had to spend two months in jail in this case. Later, the CBI found that all the allegations against him were false and all conspiracies were hatched to implicate him.
