Abidjan: Prime Minister of Ivory Coast Emadu Gon Coulibaly died on Wednesday at the age of 61. He returned home six days earlier, after undergoing treatment for two months in France. He also underwent a transplant in the year 2012. Coulibaly was also the presidential candidate of the party occupied by Ivory Coast.
Now, because of his death, there has also been increased concern about the next candidate. He did not give any public information about why he went back to France in May, but there were speculations that his health problems were related to the heart transplantation done in 2012. His death was reported by national television on Wednesday.
President Alasane Outtara described him as his younger brother, his son and his closest political ally for 30 years. Outtara said, 'I salute his devotion and love for his country'. Giving information to the media, the officials said that Coulibaly had returned from France six days earlier. On Wednesday, he also attended a cabinet meeting but later his health deteriorated.
