Ahmedabad, The Gujarat government on Saturday appointed Dr Jagdip Narayan Singh, a Gujarat-cadre IAS of 1983 batch as Chief Secretary of the State.
A PhD in Political Economy from the M S University of Baroda, Singh holds a masters degree in international studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University.
As per the notification issued by General Administration Department, Singh, a 1983 batch IAS officer, who was serving as additional chief secretary in the finance department, has been transferred and appointed as Chief Secretary to Gujarat government.
Singh will replace 1981-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer G R Aloria and will take charge on July 31.
