BHUBANESHWAR: Odisha CM Patnaik Instructs Officials to Make Adequate Preparations Considering the Hot Weather for Jagannath Puri Ratha Yatra 2023

The Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, has issued directives to officials regarding the upcoming Ratha Yatra 2023 in Jagannath Puri. He emphasized the importance of considering the scorching weather conditions while making necessary arrangements.

In a virtual meeting with the Ratha Jatra Coordination Committee, Patnaik stated, "We must pay special attention to the devotees arriving from various parts of the country and abroad, ensuring their positive experience throughout the event." He called upon everyone to provide their support to ensure a seamless and successful festival.

Acknowledging Lord Jagannath as the epitome of Odisha's identity, the Chief Minister emphasized the significance of conducting the rituals at the appropriate timings to ensure the smooth progress of the festival.

During the review meeting, Patnaik also highlighted the need for an uninterrupted power supply to the pilgrimage town during the Rath Yatra.

Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra 2023: Date and Schedule -This year, the auspicious Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra is scheduled to take place on June 20. The procession will commence at 10:04 PM on June 20 and conclude at 7:09 PM on June 21. The preparations for this grand festival begin months in advance.

The magnificent Rath Yatra commences once the three deities are installed on their adorned chariots. Lord Jagannath's chariot is known as Nandighosha, Lord Balabhadra's chariot is called Taladhwaja, and Goddess Subhadra's chariot is named Darpadalan. These chariots are enthusiastically pulled by a multitude of devotees.

Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra holds immense sanctity in Odisha and is observed as per the Hindu calendar. It takes place annually on the second day of the bright fortnight in the month of Ashadha.

On this highly revered day, Lord Jagannath is ceremoniously taken out of the temple and placed on beautifully adorned chariots. The three idols are then taken to the Gundicha Temple.
