Jaishankar meets Slovak PM to discuss political, economic, defence ties

SLOVAKIA: On an official visit to Slovakia, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Prime Minister Eduard Heger and addressed the expansion of political, economic, and defence ties between the two countries. He also expressed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's congratulations and gratitude for the support he and his colleagues provided during Operation Ganga.

The development of our political, economic, and defence cooperation was discussed "On Friday, S Jaishankar tweeted. An evacuation mission was carried out under Operation Ganga to bring back all Indian people stranded in Ukraine as a result of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Around 20,000 Indians were stranded in Ukraine, including students.

During the evacuation efforts, our union ministers Hardeep Singh Puri, Kiren Rijiju, Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Gen VK Singh went to Ukraine's neighbouring nations as Prime Minister Narendra Modi's special envoys. From June 2 to 6, Jaishankar will be in Slovakia and the Czech Republic as part of a two-nation European tour to bolster bilateral ties with the two Central European countries.

Jaishankar will meet with Ivan Korcok, Slovakia's Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, during his visit to Bratislava from June 2 to 4. He also spoke about 'Taking Friendship to the Next Level: Allies in the Indo-Pacific Region' at the GLOBSEC 2022 Forum.
