Srinagar: Five army personnel were martyred and four others, including an officer, were injured during an encounter with security forces in Kandi area of ​​Rajouri district of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday (May 5) morning. According to army officials, the terrorists belong to the same group that ambushed an army truck carrying iftari for villagers on April 20, in which at least five soldiers were killed and another was injured. 

An army officer has been seriously injured in this attack. Jammu-based Defense Spokesperson Lt. Col. Devendra Anand has told that, "In the ongoing operation in Rajouri sector, 3 soldiers, who were seriously injured in the morning, have unfortunately lost their lives. The operation is still going on." The officer said, "During this ongoing operation in the Rajouri sector, five soldiers of the Indian Army have laid down their lives."

Sources have told media that out of 5 brave soldiers, 4 soldiers were from 9 Para SF and one from RR. The injured are Major rank officers, who are undergoing treatment at the Command Hospital in Udhampur. Sources said that it was an ambush near a well-built cave. The terrorists had planted an IED. After the IED blast, indiscriminate firing was done on the army personnel. Apart from commandos of 9 Para SF, CRPF personnel and Special Operations Group of J&K Police were also involved in the operation.
