Srinagar: As a precaution to prevent any disturbance of law and order on the seventh anniversary of Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru, the Jammu and Kashmir government has shut down mobile internet services on Sunday. Giving information, the officials said that the mobile Internet services were stopped in the early hours of Sunday. Because the administration may be prone to violence in the valley in view of the closed call of separatist organizations.

TwoG Internet services were started in Kashmir on 25 January by the administration. More than five months ago, on August 5 last year, all the communication facilities in the valley were suspended after Article 370 was made ineffective. The police had registered an FIR on Saturday against the banned outfit Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) for invoking the strike on Afzal Guru's death anniversary. Guru was hanged in Tihar Jail in 2013 for his role in the December 2001 attack on Parliament.

Two journalists were called by the police to make news of JKLF's press release. The strike was called by JKLF on Sunday and Tuesday. Tuesday marks the anniversary of JKLF founder Mohammad Maqbool Bhat. Both journalists were released after question-and-answer.
