Janata Dal United has no links with Cambridge Analytica: JDU leader KC Tyagi

Janata Dal United (JDU) leader KC Tyagi has denied any connection between the Cambridge Analytica, a data mining company at the center of data leak controversy, and JDU.

“JDU has no relation with Cambridge Analytica, neither has its CEO ever met Nitish Ji nor me. In any case, JDU is a Socialist outfit and we stay away from such things, except for maybe Prashant Kishore Ji helping us during last assembly polls,” said Tyagi.

Ambrish Tyagi, CEO of Oveleno Business Intelligence Pvt Ltd which is the Indian partner of Cambridge Analytica, is the son of JDU leader KC Tyagi. The disclosure of this fact rose doubts on links between JDU and the company.

“There was only a work relation between my son Amrish's company and Cambridge Analytica, there is no financial transaction or shareholding, everything is open to probe. JDU also has no links with this, neither did they promote us in 2010 polls,” clarified Tyagi.

The revelation of Cambridge Analytica’s involvement in the manipulation of facebook accounts and stealing personal data of the users and allegedly using it to influence them during the US presidential election has also initiated an uproar in India with political parties alleging each other’s connections with the company.
