Patna: JD(U) National President Rajiv Ranjan alias Lalan Singh has started working on the expansion of the party outside Bihar. Lalan Singh also recently said, "In the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, JD(U) wants it to contest in alliance with BJP but if this does not happen, his party will contest alone.'' At the same time, JD(U) National President Lalan Singh said, "We are in the NDA and we would like to know from the NDA leadership whether it wants to make us alliance partners in the Uttar Pradesh elections. If the NDA leadership does not want it, then the JD(U) will contest the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and other states alone.''

He further said, "Chief Minister Nitish Kumar wants his party to expand to other states as well and JD(U) to get national party status. Now, let's talk about this time, the JD(U) now has the status of a regional party, and that too is only in Bihar and Arunachal Pradesh. The JD(U) is gearing up to contest the 2022 Uttar Pradesh and Manipur assembly elections.''

In fact, the JD(U) had announced to contest the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, but Nitish Kumar had categorically refused to contest before the elections. Most importantly, Nitish Kumar's party along with RJD was running the government in Bihar during the 2017 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections but JD(U) was also preparing to return to NDA.
