Ranchi: A woman health worker from Jamdih village under Gumla district of Jharkhand has lodged a complaint with Kurkura police station. The woman has said that some villagers are harassing her family members for forcibly converting to Christianity. The Dalit woman said that those Christian villagers also raped my minor daughter which has left her in shock. Gumla police have registered FIR under Section 323, 341, 295, 504, 448, 506, 509, Section 4 of the IPC of the Freedom of Religion Act and Section 8 of the POCSO Act on 30th August on the basis of the woman's statement.
The village is located about 70 km from Gumla district headquarters, which is badly affected by Left Wing Extremism. Police sources said an FIR has been registered in the case stating that the officers in charge of Kurkura police station are investigating the case. The woman has named Paulina Bilung, Akash Dungdung, Nisha, Sheela, Phoolmani Surin, Urmila, Santoshi, Janaki, Sheetal Ram, Gangi Devi, Akash Dungdung and Sushila Devi in her complaint. All of them are followers of Christianity. The woman said the accused came to her house on August 14 and asked her family to convert to Christianity. The Scheduled Caste victim had said that she was happy with her Hinduism.
There was a dispute between them over this, which made the accused violent. They raised their religious flag at home and raped her 16-year-old girl. They pulled the girl's clothes and said they would marry her and then make her a Christian. The woman said the accused also instigated the villagers against her family. Tell us that Gumla has been the centre of conversion of Christian missionaries. According to media reports, a large number of people were converted by Christian missionaries during the lockdown last year.
