Ranchi: In some government schools in the Jamtara district of Jharkhand, it has been reported that Friday has been declared a holiday instead of Sunday. It has been claimed that the notice board of the school has declared this day as a holiday on Friday as the day of Jumei. At the same time, it has been told by the state education department that, these are Urdu schools, so this decision has been taken after looking at the convenience of teachers.

According to the ground report of the case given by Dainik Jagran correspondent Kaushal Singh, Friday's holiday has been kept in schools where the number of Muslim students is more than 70 per cent. According to the claim, there are no orders from the government to keep those schools closed on Friday, but under the pressure of the management committee, it has become a permanent practice to have a holiday on Friday. At the same time, former Jharkhand CM and senior BJP leader Babulal Marandi have raised questions about this arrangement. He tweeted from his official Twitter handle, "First the news of stopping the practice of prayer with folded hands in Garhwa. Now in Jamtara district, instead of Sunday, forcibly closing schools on Fridays and writing the board of Urdu schools on their own on normal schools. Chief Minister Hemant Sorenji, which way are you taking Jharkhand?''

On the other hand, the district education department has claimed that out of the total 1084 schools, only 15 Urdu schools are being given Friday holiday. However, according to the Jagran report, the number of schools that will be closed on Friday is said to be more than 100. Along with the claim that these schools are in Muslim-dominated areas, there is also a claim of putting pressure on the school management by the people around. According to the report,┬а the word 'Urdu' has been unofficially added to the board of several schools without permission by the people.

According to the report, Deep Narayan Mandal, secretary of the Birajpur Utkramit Secondary School, says, "About eight months ago, the local villagers created a ruckus for Friday's holiday. We had then written to senior officials of the department informing them about it, but no action was taken. Now, under the pressure of the villagers, a holiday is being given on Friday.''┬а

At the same time, Sajjad Ansari, the husband of the Nawadih Panchayat Mukhiya, says that the holiday arrangements on Friday have been going on in the area for a long time. According to a report by Jagran, Jamtara district education officer Abhay Shankar said, "He is not aware of the closure of any school on Friday. If this is happening somewhere, strict action will be taken against the accused by stopping it.''
