SRINAGAR: Another accomplishment has been made in Jammu & Kashmir. As per Prime Minister Narendra Modi's wishes, Jammu & Kashmir has become the first Union Territory in the nation to develop 75 Amrit Sarovars in each district.

On April 24, National Panchayati Raj Day, the Prime Minister officially opened the Mission Amrit Sarovar in Jammu's Samba district. At the national level, the UT ranks second in the nation for Amrit Sarovar completion, just behind the considerably larger State of Uttar Pradesh.

J&K had to finish 1500 Amrit Sarovars by August 15, 2023, and 300 Amrit Sarovars by August 15, 2022, in accordance with the mission's requirements. However, on August 15, 2022, the UT finished building 1490 Amrit Sarovars and raised national flags over them in celebration of Independence Day.

Governance norms are raised After the temporary constitutional clause known as Article 370 was repealed on August 5, 2019, Jammu & Kashmir had to compete with every other state and UT in the nation. The Himalayan region consistently ranks highly in surveys and "Good Government" rankings.

The governance standards of Jammu and Kashmir saw a significant improvement in the years 2021–2022, and numerous polls carried out by both government and independent organisations confirm this.

The city of Srinagar received 61.50 out of a possible 100 in the NITI Aayog's 39th Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Urban Index for 2021. J&K has demonstrated a record improvement over the last three years in key mother and child health indicators in its most recent report of the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5).

J&K was ranked first in the LEADS 2021 index, which was published by the Union Commerce Ministry. According to the survey, J&K ranked first among the Himalayan region's North-Eastern states, followed by Sikkim and Meghalaya.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) also ranked J&K first out of eight Indian Union Territories in a report on food safety that was published in September of last year.

A non-profit research think tank called the Public Affairs Centre (PAC) ranked J&K as the second best-governed Union Territory in the nation in its study.
