New Delhi: Ajay Kumar Dubey, the rector of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in the country's capital Delhi, has resigned from his post, which has also been accepted by the authority. A notice regarding this has also been officially issued by the university. The rector was accused of the murderous assault on students demanding fellowship, harassing a female colleague and running an NGO illegally.
It may be mentioned that on August 18, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists approached the rector and sought his reply regarding the dilapidated condition of the hostel and the water crisis in the campus. A section of teachers had even alleged that the rector was running two non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from his university address, which is in violation of the rules. However, Dubey had denied the allegation.
Teachers say the Overseas Initiative Organization (ODI) and African Studies Association of India (ASAI), two non-governmental organizations, are registered under the Avvaiyar Samvad Forum (ASF) and their official address is the JNU campus. Last month, among the faculty members, the ASF claimed that Ajay Dubey, who is the rector-I of the university, had committed "financial mismanagement" of funds and misused his power and position for personal and professional gains.
