With France losing to kanse, Germany had already shattered India's hopes of a second straight title. The defending champions, India, were defeated 1-3 in the Junior Hockey World Cup Bronze Medal playoff match. Captain Timothy Clement (26th, 34th, and 47th minute) has a hat-trick for France. All three goals were scored from a penalty corner.

Sudeep Chirmako (42nd minute) scored India's lone goal. After their outstanding performance against Belgium in the quarterfinals, the Indians had their second straight dud display. In the first match, they again lost 4-5 to France. The third-fourth place match provided an opportunity for the Vivek Sagar Prasad-led Indian team to revenge their 4-5 loss to France in the tournament's opening match, but it was not to be.

With their outstanding achievements, the European squad proceeded to overpower the hosts. After a poor start in the first quarter, France took control of the game and earned 14 penalty corners. Only three penalty corners were won by the Indian squad.
