Kamal Hassan, the president of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) and a renowned actor, has announced that within the next two days, he will reveal plans for an alliance in anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.

Addressing reporters at Chennai airport, Hassan expressed optimism about the election preparations, hinting at a forthcoming "good opportunity."

"In two days, I will share some good news with you. The groundwork for the Parliamentary elections is progressing smoothly, and we are hopeful for a favorable outcome. Stay tuned for our alliance decision in the next two days," Hassan stated.

Having returned from the US, where he was involved in preparations for his upcoming movie 'Thug Life,' Hassan's arrival marked a significant moment in the political landscape of Tamil Nadu.

In a previous development last September, Udhayanidhi Stalin, a leader of the DMK and Tamil Nadu minister, hinted at the possibility of his party forming an alliance with Hassan's MNM for the upcoming polls.

"The decision regarding an alliance with Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam party will be made closer to the election date," remarked Udhayanidhi Stalin.

Moreover, Hassan had defended Udhayanidhi Stalin amidst the 'Sanatana Dharma' controversy, emphasizing that targeting a young individual like Udhayanidhi for expressing his views on Sanatana was unwarranted.

While MNM faced setbacks in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and the 2021 Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu, it extended support to the ruling DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance candidate during the Erode by-polls.

Furthermore, Hassan's presence alongside Congress MP Rahul Gandhi during his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Tamil Nadu last December marked a significant political collaboration, signaling potential alliances in the future.
