Democrat Kamala Harris has achieved an unprecedented milestone, amassing $540 million in just over a month since launching her campaign for the U.S. presidency. This significant fundraising surge was fueled by a wave of donations during the recent Democratic National Convention, her campaign revealed on Sunday.

According to a memo from Harris' campaign manager, Jen O'Malley Dillon, $82 million of the total amount was raised during the convention week alone. Dillon highlighted that this impressive figure reflects the growing enthusiasm among Democrats for Harris' candidacy.

"This is the most ever for any presidential campaign in this time span," Dillon stated.

Vice President Kamala Harris officially entered the presidential race on July 21, following President Joe Biden's decision to step aside. Biden's withdrawal came after increasing concerns among fellow Democrats regarding his cognitive abilities, especially after a stumbling performance during a June 27 debate against Republican Donald Trump.

Harris' candidacy has quickly gained momentum, placing Trump on the defensive as he struggles to keep the media's attention on him.

This week, Harris and her vice-presidential running mate, Tim Walz, will continue their campaign efforts with a bus tour through Georgia. The duo aims to garner support in the state, which is expected to play a pivotal role in the upcoming November 5 election.
