In the Swachh Survekshan 2020 results, Karnal has jumped 48 points to rank 17th, before it was 65th. Karnal has been number one in the state for the fourth time in a row. Not only this, Karnal, who topped the competition among 17 cities of the state, has received the credit for being the only three-star rating and ODF plus-plus for the second time.

The cleanliness survey competition between 382 cities of the country was 6 thousand points this time. Earlier in 2019 there was a competition of 5 thousand marks and in the year 2018, four thousand marks. Karnal Municipal Corporation has been ranked 17th in the country with 4655.07 / 6000 i.e. 77.58 per cent marks in this year's competition. Not only this, in the result of Swachh Survekshan -2020, the municipalities of the district have also got a respectable place.

Neelokheri Municipality of cities has been ranked 32nd in the state in the category of five thousand population. Indri has got 52nd rank while Nasing has got 83rd rank. Three municipalities in the district have been in the top 100 among the municipalities with a population of 25 to 50 thousand. In the ranking, Gharaunda municipality has been ranked 31, Assandh 41 and Tarawadi 83. Gharaunda municipality is going to announce ODF plus-plus and Nilokheri and Indri municipality as ODF plus.
