Bangalore: Karnataka's major political parties are gearing up for the joint session beginning from Friday, February 10.
It will be the final Assembly meeting before the state elections.

B.S. Yediyurappa, veteran BJP leader, former chief minister, and member of the BJP Central Parliamentary Board has also declared his retirement from four decades in electoral politics, therefore this will be his final Assembly session.

The political parties are preparing a dignified send-off during the session for the Lingayat strongman who initially installed the BJP in power in south India. The BJP leaders are preparing a vote of appreciation for the budget debate.
In 1983, Yediyurappa entered politics. He won every election from the Shikaripura Assembly constituency from 1999 through 2018, with the exception of one. With one of the largest margins of victory in the nation, he won the legislative elections.

Yediyurappa is now eager to pass the torch to his son B.Y. Vijayendra, who is currently the state's BJP vice president. The party has not yet decided whether to field Vijayendra in the Shikaripura constituency, which is now represented by Yediyurappa.

Together with other senior officials, including late former Union minister Anantha Kumar and others, he grew the party from two seats in the state to what it is today -- A potent force in the state.

Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot will also speak to the joint session after this.

The final budget of the governing BJP government will be presented on February 17 by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. The meeting will continue through February 24. Prohibitory measures have been enacted by the authorities in the two kilometres surrounding the Vidhana Soudha.

All lawmakers were instructed by Speaker Visveshwara Hegde Kaegri to actively participate in the previous session. Between February 20 and 24, the session will review the governor's speech before moving on to the budget.

1,300 questions have already been submitted to the Assembly secretary's office for discussion during the meeting. On the House floor, several of them will be addressed. The remainder would receive written responses. There will be seven measures introduced, including six related to private universities.

During the period of the session, major political parties, the BJP, the opposition Congress, and JD(S) leaders have organised a variety of political programmes. Major leaders are therefore likely to skip the majority of the session. Political Speaker Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri made an oblique reference to this when he said that the presence of leaders' representatives at the session is likely to coincide with other political engagements.
