BANGALORE: The Karnataka government's pick of cabinet ministers has received approval from Congress. Dr. G. Parameshwara, KH Muniyapa, KJ George, MB Patil, Satish Jarkiholi, Priyank Kharge, Ramalinga Reddy, and BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan are among the ministers that are expected to join Karnataka's cabinet.
It's unclear who will be given which department, but it's noteworthy to note that Priyank Kharge's name has been added to the list of people who must be considered. The party's president, Mallikarjun Kharge, is the father of Kharge. Priyank won the recently held legislative assembly election in the southern state's Chittapur constituency by more than 13,000 votes.
Notably, the Karnataka cabinet now includes ministers from every caste, including G. Parameshwara (SC), K. H. Muniyappa (SC), K. J. George (Minority-Christian), M. B. Patil (Lingayat), Satish Jarkiholi (ST-Valmiki), Ramalinga Reddy (Reddy), and B. Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan (Minority-Muslim).
On Saturday, D K Shivakumar, the head of the state's Congress party, and Siddaramaiah, who has been elected to a second term as chief minister, will be sworn in.
The swearing-in event will begin at 12.30 PM at Bengaluru's Sree Kanteerava Stadium. The ceremony will take place at the same location where Siddaramaiah took his oath of office as Chief Minister for the first time in 2013.
Putting together a Cabinet with the ideal lineups that would strike a balance in having representatives from all communities, regions, factions, as well as from among the old and young generation of legislators, is the first challenging task that Siddaramaiah is likely to confront.
The Congress has implemented to carry out the following "guarantees": 200 units of free electricity for all households (Gruha Jyoti), Rs. 2,000 per month in assistance for the woman head of every family (Gruha Lakshmi), 10 kg of free rice for every member of a BPL household (Anna Bhagya), Rs. 3,000 per month for graduates and Rs. 1,500 for diploma holders (both in the age group of 18 to 25.
