Bangalore: Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai has said that nothing is permanent in the world including office and status. He told this to the people of his constituency, Shiggaon. He looked extremely emotional while speaking. The statement has raised speculations about his possibility of stepping down from office. He said that nothing is permanent in this world. This life is not in itself forever. We do not know how long we will be here in such a situation, this post and status is not there forever. I am aware of this fact all the time.

Expressing gratitude to the people of his constituency, CM Bommai said that he is not the CM but Basavaraj for them (the people). In fact, Basavaraj was addressing the gathering after unveiling the statue of 19th-century Kittur Queen Maharani Chennamma at Kittur in Belagavi district. Rani Chennamma fought against the British. Bommai said, "I have been saying from the beginning that outside Shiggaon, I was the Home Minister and the Irrigation Minister in the past, but once I came here, I was just Basavaraj for all of you.

He said that I am Basavaraj among you because the name Basavaraj is permanent, no post is permanent. In fact, there is speculation in some sections that Bommai may be removed from the CM's post. Bommai recalled how he is served food affectionately whenever he comes to his constituency as Basavaraj.
