Karnataka: Earthquake jolts Kalburgi this morning, people run out of their homes in panic

Bangalore: Tremors have struck Kalburgi district of Karnataka on Tuesday morning. The magnitude of the earthquake on the Richter scale has been recorded at 3.5. However, no loss of life or property has been reported so far. Tell us that since October 1, there have been six earthquakes in the north Karnataka region near Bidar and Kalburgi. One of them and twice on October 5 has been an earthquake in Basavakalyan. This has been followed by four earthquakes in Kalburgi on October 9, 11 and 12.

According to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, a magnitude 3.0 earthquake struck the same place near Gadikeswar village in Kalburgi on Monday morning and at 9.55 pm. Tremors were felt in Kupnoor village of Chincholi on Tuesday morning, with its epicentre located 1.6 km southwest of Kupnoor. Police said that the continuous earthquake caused panic among the terrified people to spend the night in the open outside houses in Gadikeswar and Kupnoor.

Earlier, a 3.0 magnitude earthquake struck Kalburgi in the state on Sunday. Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) had informed in this regard. KSNDMC had said that the earthquake occurred at 6.50 am and its epicentre was located two kilometres northeast of Kodadur in Kalgi taluka of Kalburgi district.
