Bangalore: The Yogi model for encountering criminals in Uttar Pradesh has also started to be adopted by many other states. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said he was also ready to adopt the "Yogi model" to deal with "anti-national and communal elements". Meanwhile, a statement by Karnataka Higher Education Minister Dr C.N. Ashwath Narayan is making headlines.

In fact, minister Ashwath Narayan said on Friday, July 29 that the state government will go five steps ahead of UP in dealing with criminals and we are also ready for the encounter of criminals. His statement came amid tension in the state following the recent brutal killing of BJP Yuva Morcha leader Praveen Nettaru. He made the statement while warning against stricter arrangements to maintain law and order in the state. The BJP government in Karnataka is facing the ire of the party cadre after the killing of 32-year-old BJYM activist Praveen Nettaru by radical Muslims in communally sensitive Dakshina Kannada district on Tuesday. People are demanding to implement the Yogi model across the state.

CN Ashwath Narayan, a former deputy chief minister of the state, said, "The patience of the people is being tested by provocation. That is why our CM has said that such criminals and murderers will be dealt with brutally. Our government is also ready to carry an encounter.'' He further said, "In the coming days, there will be so much panic among the criminals that they will never dream of committing such murders. Now it's time to have an encounter. Our government will be strict and rein in such crimes. We will form anti-terrorism squads with awareness.''
