Bangalore: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a 750-page chargesheet in the murder case of Bajrang Dal activist Harsha in Shivamogga, Karnataka. The chargesheet clearly states that Harsha was murdered out of "hatred". Harsha, 26, a resident of Shivamogga, was stabbed to death in the Bharti Nagar area on the night of February 20, 2022.

After this, Section 144 had to be imposed in this communally sensitive area. Along with this, there were huge protests in various areas of the state. After this, the investigation of the murder was handed over to the NIA. At the time when Harsha was murdered, there was a ruckus in educational institutions of the state about the hijab/ burqa. It was being told that Harsha was the target of fundamentalists for a long time. When the hijab controversy erupted, Harsha had posted only one post on his social media, sparking Islamic fundamentalists.

It was only after this post that he was murdered with a conspiracy. Earlier, it was speculated that Harsha's post about hijab was the reason for this murder, but as the posts of the fundamentalists came out, the matter became clear. Looking at these posts, it was revealed that opposition to the hijab was one of the reasons, but the conspiracy to kill Harsha was already being hatched before that. Many fundamentalists including Riyaz, Nadeem, Mujahid, Kashif, Asif, and Affan (Rihan) have been arrested in connection with Harsha's murder. Shivamogga police had said that the assailants came in a car and chased Harsha, then hit him. UAPA sections were invoked against all of them.
