Keep up law and order during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations: MHA

New Delhi:  The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued an advisory to all states to ensure the maintenance of law and ahead of Hanuman Jayanti after recent violence between two factions broke out in West Bengal and Bihar during the Ram Navami procession.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has also advised through its advisory for peaceful observance of the festival, and monitoring of factors that could disturb communal harmony in society.

Hanuman Jayanti would be observed tomorrow, Thursday, April 6.

"During Hanuman Jayanti, the MHA has issued a warning to all the states. The governments are urged to maintain law and order, promote a peaceful event, and keep an eye out for anything that could jeopardise social cohesion "The Union Home Ministry tweeted.
According to reports, the advisory has been given to the Chief Secretaries and Director Generals of Police of every State. 

Following recent conflicts that were recorded in West Bengal and Bihar when Ram Navami processions were dispersed, the MHA took action. Howrah, West Bengal, saw violence erupt last week. On March 31, Bihar's Rohtas district's Sasaram and Nalanda's Biharsharif also reported similar clashes.

The Home Ministry has urged the West Bengal government to submit a report at the earliest on the incident of violence in Howrah, where many vehicles were torched and shops vandalized last week.

The Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) has sent a total of 10 companies to Bihar following the outbreak of violent confrontations there during Ram Navami celebrations.

Even after Ram Navami, Bihar remained tense as new acts of violence were reported on Saturday in the districts of Rohtas and Nalanda, according to the police.

Clashes between two groups in Nalanda's Biharsharif resulted in one death and numerous injuries. A bomb in the Rohtas district's Sasaram town injured six persons.

Nalanda Police on March 2 said more than 75 people were arrested in raids after the clash. Bihar Police imposed prohibitory orders in Nalanda to maintain law and order in the region. Clashes were first reported in the 2 districts of Bihar on Friday.
