New Delhi: The Arvind Kejriwal government is introducing a cashless medical facility for more than 20,000 retired employees of the Delhi Vidyut Board (DVB), Power Minister Atishi announced on Saturday. The plan was officially approved on Friday, with a notification expected next week to put the scheme into effect.

Delhi Transco Limited (DTL) will manage the cashless medical services for DVB employees who retired before April 2002. After the DVB was restructured in 2002, it was divided into separate entities for power generation, transmission, and distribution.

For employees who retired after 2002, the respective generation companies (PPCL and IGPCL), DTL, and the three distribution companies (discoms) will be responsible for handling their cashless medical benefits, Atishi explained.

Many retired employees have faced difficulties in obtaining medical reimbursements in the past. However, with the implementation of this cashless medical scheme, the Kejriwal government aims to eliminate these challenges and provide easier access to healthcare for former DVB employees.

Managed by Delhi Transco Limited (DTL), the initiative will benefit Delhi Vidyut Board employees who retired before April 2002, while other entities will oversee the healthcare of those who retired afterward. This scheme aims to alleviate the hardships retirees faced with medical reimbursements and will come into effect next week following official notification.
