Kochi: The Central Government on Tuesday informed the Supreme Court that an agreement has been reached between the two states to remove the barriers imposed on the border of Karnataka and Kerala due to Coronavirus infection. A roadmap has been prepared for taking patients for treatment on the interstate border. This information has been given by the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to the bench of Chief Justice SA Bobde, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Deepak Gupta.

The bench was hearing the Karnataka government's appeal against the Kerala High Court order through video conferencing. Mehta said that both the states have resolved the road disruption caused by the coronavirus epidemic. He said that as per the order of the Supreme Court of April 3, a meeting of the Union Home Secretary was held with the Chief Secretaries of Karnataka and Kerala in which the parameters of taking patients for treatment from the Talpari border have been agreed.

The bench said that in such a situation, the Kerala High Court can dispose of all the petitions including the Government of Karnataka against the April 1 order on the issue of a border dispute. The Karnataka government had said in its appeal that the High Court has given this order by going beyond its jurisdiction.
